1525833 Centrifugal separators GLACIER METAL CO Ltd 24 March 1977 [24 March 1976] 11779/76 Heading B2P A centrifugal separator assembly for cleaning bifurcating oil in an engine comprises a cyclone 10 having an apex portion 15 extending into a stem on which a centrifuge 11 is mounted for rotation, passages being provided at 24 for leading oil to be cleaned into the cyclone, at 18, 19, 20 for transferring partially cleaned oil from the cyclone to the separation chamber 21 of the centrifuge, and at 25, 26 for discharging cleaned oil from the chamber. The passages 25, 26 are in the form of tangentially-directed nozzles through which the oil is discharged as reaction jets causing rotation of the centrifuge. The clean oil from the centrifuge discharges in a casing 13 and is returned via a passage 27 to the engine sump. (54) FILTER DEVICE The invention relates to filters for removing solid particles from a liquid phase by using centrifugal force, filters for cleaning lubricating oil, and can be used in various industries. A filtering device is known which contains a cyclone with nozzles for introducing the initial product and withdrawing the clarified and condensed phases and the center of the fugue, which is installed rotatably under the action of the flow of the processed product inside the cyclone on the bearings l. The disadvantage of this device is low filtering and design complexity. The purpose of the invention is to increase the filtration efficiency and ensure the compactness of the device. The goal is achieved by the fact that the cyclone is made in the upper part with channels that are connected to a centrifuge concentrically mounted outside the cyclone. The drawing shows a filtering device, a general view. The filter device consists of a cyclone 1 with a base 2 and the center of a fugue 3. The base 2 of a cyclone 1 is made of aluminum and attached to the outer casing 4 by means of a clamping ring 5. The upper part of the cyclone 1 has a conical shape, is made of steel and mounted on bearings 6 and 7. In the upper part of the cyclone 1, the channels 8 and 9 are made and connected to the hole 10 of the centrifuge 3. The cyclone is equipped with a tangential pipe 11 for the oil inlet and an axially located pipe 12 for the cleaned oil outlet. The centrifuge is equipped with a separation chamber 13 with nozzles 14 and 15, under the action of the energy of the flow, which is clear of the nozzles, the centrifuge is rotated. The clean oil from the centrifuge 3 is discharged through channel 16 to the sump. The filtering device operates as follows. The contaminated oil enters the mixture under pressure — into the tangential nozzle 11 and swirls around nozzle 12.
